- Prof. Aaron Buckland: Prof. Buckland is a leading spinal surgeon with expertise in paediatric and adult spinal deformities. After earning his MBBS/BMedSci from the University of Melbourne, he completed his Orthopaedic Training in Melbourne, Australia. Subsequently he undertook spinal surgery fellowship at NYU Langone Health in New York City, where he subsequently practiced from 2015 and was appointed the Director of Spine Research before returning to Melbourne in 2020. Prof. Buckland is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery in the USA in addition to having specialist qualifications in Australia.
In addition to running a high volume practice focused on quality and safety, Prof. Buckland has extensive academic achievements wth over 180 peer-reviewed publications, and is a member of the Harms Study Group, and Paediatric Spine Study Group in the USA. Prof. Buckland founded the Paediatric Spine Surgery Registry at the Royal Children’s Hospital with the aim of improving the results of spine surgery in children and adolescents. - Mr. Karim Kantar: Mr. Kantar is an Australian-trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in paediatric and adult spinal surgery. He graduated from Flinders University and completed fellowships at the Austin Hospital, Melbourne Orthopaedic Group and the Children’s Hospital of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. His expertise includes complex spinal deformities and innovative surgical techniques such as anterior scoliosis correction and vertebral body tethering.
